Support with your studies
Higher education gives you the opportunity to take the initiative with your learning, develop new skills, and explore your interests around a particular subject.
We know you may be joining us straight from another course, or that you may be returning to education after some time away. We also appreciate that you may well have other demands on your time alongside your college studies. Whatever your background, goals, or potential challenges, we want to work with you to ensure you get the most from your time at the college.
Learning Resource Centres
Our Learning Resource Centres are open for loaning an ever growing collection of books, DVDs, journals, audio, visual and electronic resources (including laptops) to support you with your studies.
You can also access materials from home and borrow specialist equipment from your department. You'll find our Senior Learning Facilitators based in our LRCs, who you can book appointments for study skills support sessions with. SLFs are available throughout the week to offer 1-2-1 or small-group support in areas including: GCSE and Functional Skills maths and English, ESOL grammar & conversation support, APA 7 Referencing, research skills, assignment support, and more. To book, just email learningresources@sheffcol.ac.uk

At university level, additional support and adjustments for students with disabilities or long-term health conditions is arranged via Student Finance England’s DSA programme.
